Peters Doig Ltd was originally formed as Parker & Hood Chartered
Accountants in 1946 by two returned servicemen, Bill Parker and Athol Hood.
Bill flew Spitfires during the Battle of Britain and Athol was an officer in the
famed LRDG (Long Range Desert Group), which was a predecessor of the
British SAS, both of which were highly regarded and famous theatres of
World War II.
The practice is among Blenheim's oldest with a long standing client base
which was initially largely made up from other returned servicemen and
women, and was also largely rural based. This has grown to the present
day with a much wider base of retail, trade, manufacturing, service, wine
and rural industries clients. Interestingly many clients in our practice are
next generation (or even two) from the original families assisted by the
Practice in 1946.

From the original practice of Parker & Hood to the recent title of Peters Doig Chartered Accountants Ltd there have only
ever been 8 partners in its 64 year history and since the days of Bill & Athol those to come (and retire) include Bill's son
Brian, Phil Collins, Mark Peters, Barry Doig, Jeanette MacMillan and Alison Brook. The Parker, Collins and Peters families
have all been long standing Marlborough residents since the 1800s, and with others having come to the practice over the
years from outside Marlborough this has always provided a good mix of skills, ideas and backgrounds to be able to give the
necessary quality of professional service to all clients.

Partners have always immersed themselves
in local and community activities and issues
from Local Authorities, Service Clubs,
Church Groups, Rugby and other sports, to
quality family involvement. A wide range of
interests among partners and staff give the
practice a good balance in all matters of life
in Marlborough.
